The Great River B&B offers a unique lodging experience: one "room" which is really the entire house.  Our cottage offers a private and intimate alternative to accommodations available at other area B&B's, inns, or hotels. 

Welcome to our Great River Bed & Breakfast.

The property is a pioneer Swedish stone cottage built in 1869 by the co-founder of the village of Stockholm, WI having first lived in a log cabin on the property starting in 1854. From our large screen porch we offer peace and solitude on 45 acres of lawn, woods and fields over looking Lake Pepin (Mississippi River). All rooms are beautifully but simply furnished with antiques, period and contemporary pieces, as well as extensive original artwork. The emphasis here is on low-key relaxation--walking, biking, bird watching (including one of the country's largest eagle populations) or reading. We have a large number of current books, magazines and a Bose sound system for you to enjoy.
 

Stockholm is a picturesque river village (pop. 97) in an area of great scenic beauty. Driving time is about one and one-half-hours south of Minneapolis and St. Paul. There are a number of artists and crafts persons working and living in the area and the interesting shops in Stockholm and nearby Pepin reflect this heritage. Pepin is also the birthplace of acclaimed author Laura Ingalls Wilder.

A 31 foot sailing sloop may be chartered (2 hours or longer) for an adventure on Lake Pepin. Great River Roasters offers a full-service coffee bar. A number of places with excellent food are available for your evening meal including the well-known and respected Harbor View Cafe ten minutes from our property. In the morning we return to serve a light breakfast if desired.
